Chicken Tikka Masala
Aloha friends and welcome to 6ixRecipes! I’m so excited to share our first worldwide dish of the week. But first, let me introduce myself – my name is Spencer Hartwel and I’ll be your host as we discover recipes from every corner of the globe.
This week we’re traveling to India for a classic curry. Chicken Tikka Masala hails from the northern region of Punjab and is now beloved around the world for its creamy tomato sauce infused with warming spices.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Ingredients:
- 1 lb chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- 1/4 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1/2 cup chicken stock
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Directions:
- ๐ฅ Toss chicken with 1/2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste, 1/2 tsp chili powder and 1/4 tsp garam masala. Let marinate 30 minutes.
- ๐ณ Heat oil in pan and cook chicken until browned. Remove and set aside.
- ๐ง In same pan, cook onion until translucent. Add remaining ginger-garlic paste, chili powder and garam masala. Cook 2 minutes.
- ๐ Add tomatoes and stock. Simmer 10 minutes until thickened.
- ๐ฅ Stir in chicken with any accumulated juices, cream and cilantro. Heat through.
- ๐ฅฃ Serve over rice and enjoy! Calories: 350. High protein, anti-inflammatory spices.
