๐ŸฅงTraditional Meatpie

Popular on the streets of Lagos and beyond, these handheld pies are the perfect portable meal. Ground beef, spices and vegetables are baked inside a flaky pastry crust.

Ingredients:

  1. 2 cups all-purpose flour ๐Ÿง†
  2. 1/2 tsp salt๐Ÿง‚
  3. 1/2 cup butter or shortening ๐Ÿงˆ
  4. 1/2 cup cold water๐Ÿ’ง
  5. Filling:
  6. 1 lb ground beef ๐Ÿฅฉ
  7. 1 onion, diced ๐Ÿง…
  8. 1 carrot, diced ๐Ÿฅ•
  9. 1 potato, diced ๐Ÿฅ”
  10. 1 tbsp curry powder๐ŸŒถ
  11. Salt and pepper to taste๐Ÿง‚

Instructions:

  1. Sift flour and salt into a bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles crumbs.
  2. Stir in water until a dough forms. Wrap in plastic and chill 30 mins.
  3. Sautรฉ filling ingredients until cooked through. Set aside.
  4. Preheat oven to 375ยฐF. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut into circles.
  5. Place filling in center and fold dough over to form a half-moon shape. Seal edges with a fork.
  6. Bake 20 mins until golden brown. Enjoy!
