๐ฅงTraditional Meatpie
Popular on the streets of Lagos and beyond, these handheld pies are the perfect portable meal. Ground beef, spices and vegetables are baked inside a flaky pastry crust.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour ๐ง
- 1/2 tsp salt๐ง
- 1/2 cup butter or shortening ๐ง
- 1/2 cup cold water๐ง
- Filling:
- 1 lb ground beef ๐ฅฉ
- 1 onion, diced ๐ง
- 1 carrot, diced ๐ฅ
- 1 potato, diced ๐ฅ
- 1 tbsp curry powder๐ถ
- Salt and pepper to taste๐ง
Instructions:
- Sift flour and salt into a bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles crumbs.
- Stir in water until a dough forms. Wrap in plastic and chill 30 mins.
- Sautรฉ filling ingredients until cooked through. Set aside.
- Preheat oven to 375ยฐF. Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut into circles.
- Place filling in center and fold dough over to form a half-moon shape. Seal edges with a fork.
- Bake 20 mins until golden brown. Enjoy!
